At Poplar we take pride in finishing your products professionally and efficiently, our finishing department offers the very latest technology to ensure we meet stringent quality control procedures.

As with all our services this department operates 24-hours a day giving maximum flexibility to meet tight deadlines and ensures we deliver your goods on time every time.

Many printers have to rely on outsourcing for a high percentage of their finishing as in the past investment in this area within the print sector has been neglected, this is not the case at Poplar. We have invested in state-of-the-art finishing equipment that we believe provides us with the edge over our competition. 

These days, demands on printers to deliver to very tight deadlines are common place and in order to continually meet Customers expectations we believe it is essential to keep all aspects of production in-house.

We have the largest Stitchliner booklet maker in the whole of the UK capable of producing stitched folded books up to 144pp at speeds of 11,000 books per hour placing us at the forefront of booklet making.

As with all our finishing equipment speed of set up and ease of operation plays it’s part enabling small quantities to remain competitive, the Stitchliner is ideal for runs between 100 and 250,000 books with specialist services such as loop stitching where required.

Our Perfector Flowline Cutting System is also at the leading edge of technology providing unrivalled guillotining at speeds of more than 3 times that of conventional guillotines and with a focus on the Health and Safety of our operators the flowline system allows for ease of lifting heavy paper and once cut, restacking without the need for back breaking bending.



From folding to perfect binding and drilling to wiro binding we can finish just about anything, all backed by our Quality Management System ISO 9001.

Paper
All paper, board and packaging used meet our strict environmental specifications and as a minimum they are ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) or TCF (Totally Chlorine Free).
 
We are an FSC (Forrest Stewardship Commission) registered Company with third party accreditation, we actively encourage the use of FSC Certified Paper,100% Recycled Paper or Paper with an element of recycled fibre. 

We offer advice and guidance to our Customers on how to go green from a paper point of view and do our level best to minimise any cost impact.

Recycling our Waste
We invest in the very latest technology to ensure our waste is minimised. 

We segregate all our paper waste which then goes for recycling, our aluminium printing plates and our spent waste. 

We continually strive to reduce waste in all practicable areas and regularly review our systems and processes to help achieve this aim.
